semi-sane seclusion

broken from within

i live in a box.

i mean this both metaphorically and literally, of course. i feel isolated from the world.. im by myself. no true day-to-day friends. and in my strained, yet softly warped mind – i have my padded cage... which, in itself, is a box of sorts.

now. in my box, it seldom occurs that new foreign stimuli are introduced. il give you an example – i seldom listen to new music. which, im starting to find is really a horrible thing. i hardly ever meet any new people. which is terribly sad. and gives me some clues as to why im so bored with my day-to-day life.

*feeling left behind*

music. it can soothe your soul. it shapes your mind. makes you think. designs your life. a lot can be said about a person, based on the affinity that person has for a certain genre of music. im a bit all over the place. but mostly metal-rock-alternative... but i probably know most of the words to most pop songs too... :1

*shh – tell no one*

i need to find some new music. without getting a sensory overload. true nutrition for the soul. melodies for chilling out... lyrics that MEAN something. something intellectual, for goodness sake!

*any ideas?*

Well, you've done the first step... You've identified the problem.

Next is to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. If you want to listen to new music, go to the Musica or whatever. If you want to meet new people... Start talking to strangers.

But don't climb in the car with them :-)

i may have blogd on this b4...

hmm..

but, strangers tend to look at you funny when you just start talking to them. they usually have better things to do also..

the musica where i live is no help. its painfully tiny.. all very sad. its a good idea to go there with a band in mind, then just find out if they have it.

which brings me back to the ultimate purpose of this post:

any ideas on who supplies / creates this sort of intellectual soul-enriching tunes i so yearn for? what arists, friends and neighbours? that is the question..

Your box has a pretty big window - called a blog... :) everyone feels this way from time to time, I think, and it's always a quandary as tohow to get out of the situation. It's hard... as far as music goes, I never ever listen to the radio, so I inly listen to stuff people recommend. And people? Get a new job. It's totally the best way - the turnover of staff at casual jobs is fairly high so you're always meeting new folks - a lot of them lousy - but it can be fun. And you get money.

Meeting people is fuckin' overrated. I usually categorize meeting people with getting poked in the eye with a piece of jagged metal.

Bands like Decapitated and Vital Remains might be a little heavy for you, I think. Give Opeth--particularly the album Blackwater Park--a listen. They own.

Gotta love Alice in chains. Can listen to them anytime.
...and your padded cage sounds like a nice retreat.
Don't search to hard for meaning. It is
really quite simple;
there is none, Life's just a layover toward reaching a higher plane.
Be kind to yourself.

i only realise how empty my life is, when exposed to glimpses of what life could be like..

example: meeting new ppl; going out; listening to new music; new experiences.

alas. this happens depression-inducingly seldom.

I also never lsiten to the radio, except in the car. I like your genre though, Nek. I also know some pop songs! Sadly, as much as I swear by my alternativeness, I still find myself listening to Sugababes and Black Eyed Peas!

Who needs friends anyway? Antisocial narcissm is the disorder of choice these days.

There's no better new music than old music. The 80s rocked. ^_^

pop culture is difficult to avoid.. it sorta jumps out at you, i guess..

i have multitudes of cds. in my car is the only time i really get to listen to em.. so, i do. in my cd player at the mo: mr manson's golden age and seether's disclaimer.. a dash of metallica and a hint of nirvana's best..

j..
it's always imprtant to stay trendy in the world of disorders!

the 80s and early 90s were weird.. ... yeah. thats all i have to say on that..

you might want to try some boa......not the british punk group that did the theme for lain but the j-pop princess and ayumi........but really really try to get some gackt and asian kung fu generation and some orange range......i like singing along as well, but i don't always want to know what it is in english cos that is the power of music in languages you don't understand.......the emotion moves you
